Community Resources

Putnam County EMS provides community services for our citizens when called upon. Our employees attend several different functions every year here in the county and outside the county if needed to assist with the dissemination of health-related fairs.

  • Blood Pressure Clinics
  • CPR Training
  • First Aid Classes
  • Public Safety and Education
  • EMS Coverage for Special Events

Putnam County EMS works very closely with the eight different fire departments in the county in order to provide the best possible care to our patients and residents when they are involved in motor vehicle collisions, structure fires or other areas that rescue is needed.

Education is opened up to the other outlying Hospital and Clinic facilities as well as other Emergency Services Providers in order to share education and help to potentiate cross-training among different agencies.

Be sure to check out Community Events Calendar for upcoming events.

End-of-Life Care Issues

In a patient's final moments, our staff believes in respecting the dignity of both patients and family alike. As such, it is our strongest desire to respect the wishes that a patient may have previously expressed. Putnam County EMS, in cooperation with the West Virginia Center for End-of-Life Care, utilizes the West Virginia e-Directive Registry to ensure that our personnel have access to documents that communicate these wishes. Such documents include Advanced Directives, Physician Orders for Scope Treatment (POST) forms and "Do Not Resuscitate" orders. To learn more about end-of-life care issues, please utilize the links below, contact the West Virginia Center for End-of-Life Care by calling (877) 209-8086 or discuss any concerns you may have with you family physician.

Please remember that, although difficult, discussing end-of-life care issues with your family and physicians is very important. Discussing these issues before the need arises can help ease the burden placed upon loved ones in a difficult situation.
