End-of-Life Care Issues
In a patient’s final moments, our staff believes in respecting the dignity of both patients and family alike. As such, it is our strongest desire to respect the wishes that a patient may have previously expressed. Putnam County EMS, in cooperation with the West Virginia Center for End-of-Life Care, utilizes the West Virginia e-Directive Registry to ensure that our personnel have access to documents that communicate these wishes. Such documents include Advanced Directives, Physician Orders for Scope Treatment (POST) forms and “Do Not Resuscitate” orders. To learn more about end-of-life care issues, please utilize the links below, contact the West Virginia Center for End-of-Life Care by calling (877) 209-8086 or discuss any concerns you may have with you family physician.
Please remember that, although difficult, discussing end-of-life care issues with your family and physicians is very important. Discussing these issues before the need arises can help ease the burden placed upon loved ones in a difficult situation.
